Nascar: Piquet Jr from Daytona

Nelson Piquet Jr, far from the world of Formula 1, will continue his career on the oval circuits of the United States. Red Horse Racing announces this Monday that the driver will participate in the entire season of Nascar, by taking part in the Camping World Truck Series races, a discipline which pits pick-up type cars against each other. The Brazilian will pilot the Toyota Tundra No. 1, a car he was able to test in October 2009. For his debut in the series, he will drive his Toyota on the Daytona track this weekend for the first round of Camping World. Truck Series.

« I am impatient ! The size of the Daytona track is incredible, exclaims Nelsinho. I can't wait to reach 200 mph (320 km/h) in a group of cars going wheel to wheel. I can't wait to get back on track and start my career in Nascar. »

« We have been very attentive during the tests of Nelson and we believe that he has a great future in Nascar, says Tom DeLoach, associate director of Red Horse Racing. He has excellent car control, provides good feedback, but needs to gain experience in side-by-side duels. He will already have some at Daytona! Nelson also has an international reputation which I hope will allow us to attract a sponsor to the team. »
