Nascar – Pole and record for Marcos Ambrose

The only two victories Marcos Ambrose achieved in Nascar Sprint Cup Series, it was each time at Watkins Glen, in 2011 and 2012. Back on this road circuit that he particularly appreciates, the Richard Petty Motosports driver could not do it better if he wants to achieve the pass of three. He won qualifying by completing his fastest lap in 1:08:777, and will start from first place in the Cheez-It 355 at the Glen. Behind him, we find Clint Bowyer who once thought he had his first pole since 2007, in vain.

With this performance, Marcos Ambrose set the new track record. The old one, 1 recorded by Juan-Pablo Montoya last year, was beaten by ten drivers this year. This year, the Colombian will start from 09th place.

For his return to the Sprint Cup to replace the injured Tony Edwards, Max Papis set the 29th time.
