NASCAR – Downforce reduction in 2016

This season, the NASCAR has repeatedly experimented with different aerodynamic packages in the race, with the stated objective of encouraging overtaking in the peloton. Such a solution had been seen in particular in Kentucky during summer.

It is towards this solution that the officials of the American series will move in 2016. The aerodynamic base for the next season of the championship across the Atlantic has been revealed. It will integrate a 3,5 inch spoiler (a little less than 9 cm compared to 15 today), a splitter and a radiator also reduced, to provide less support.

The adjustments do not stop on the aerodynamic part, since on each event, gearbox stages will be established so as to maintain a maximum speed of 9000 rpm. The third gear ratio will be set at 1,38 on ovals shorter than 1,25 miles.
