Alex Bowman scored his second victory in Nascar Cup Series by winning last Sunday at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana (California).
The Hendrick Motorsports resident who won last year in Chicago (Illinois) quickly took the lead by winning the first segment. Beaten by Ryan Blaney in the second phase, the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 88LE saw his main opponent make an unexpected stop at the end of the race following a puncture.
Alex Bowman finally won with almost 9 seconds on the Toyota Kyle Busch's Camry after staying in the lead for more than half the race, while Kurt Busch (Chevrolet) completed the podium ahead of Chase Elliott (Chevrolet). Brad Keselowski placed the first Ford Mustang in the Top 5.
Pole sitter Clint Bowyer (Ford) was unable to stay at the front. The driver of the Stewart-Haas Racing blew a tire on the 93rd lap at turn 2 and was only able to take 23rd place.
