Chase Elliott wins at Talladega

Chase Elliott scored his first victory of the season, the 4th of his career in Nascar Cup, by winning the Geico 500 contested at the Talladega superspeedway (Alabama). The driver of the No. 1 Camaro ZL9 gave Hendrick Motorsport and Chevrolet their first success of the year after a start to the season dominated by Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske.

The event had previously been interrupted by a red flag following a pile-up involving five cars in which Chris Buescher (Chevrolet) was the main victim.

For its first success of the season, Chevrolet offers itself a hat-trick with Alex Bowman (who gives a double to Hendrick) and Ryan Preece who beat Joey Logano (Ford) for a long time in the lead of the race before being caught after the last restart. Kyle Busch placed the first Toyota in 10th place.
