Chase Elliott wins in Kansas

Chase Elliott (Chevrolet) asserts himself as a real contender for the coronation as the season progresses. The Hendrick Motorsports resident won his 3rd victory of the season, his 2nd in the space of 3 starts after his success at Dover (Delaware), finishing on the “Victory Lane” of the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Victory seemed to be destined for Kevin Harvick (Ford) until the 2014 champion was penalized with a drive through for excessive speed in the pits.

Team Penske sees two of its cars eliminated from the playoffs with Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski. Denny Hamlin (Toyota) also saw his hopes of victory come to an end.

Among the eight contenders still in the race for the title, the Stewart-Haas Racing is the best represented with its 4 qualified drivers (Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch and Aric Almirola). Joey Logano represents the interests of Team Penske, Kyle Busch represents Joe Gibbs Racing and Martin Truex Jr represents Furniture Row Racing.
