Christopher Bell continues and wins in Austin

It was in the final laps of this third round of the season that Christopher Bell secured this second success. The driver Toyota found an opening on Kyle Busch's Chevrolet (Richard Childress Racing), which was struggling with its rear tires late in the race. But overtaking Busch wasn't enough to win, it was also necessary to resist the attacks of William Byron (Hendrick Motorsports), winner on this same track in 2024. Bell did this brilliantly, signing a second victory in a row. This is the first time that the 30-year-old driver has achieved such a feat in his career.

"Kyle was defending his position very well, but when he opened the door, I was able to get in and take the lead.", explained the winner of the day. “Once I got out front, I told myself that the most important thing was not to get out. It was probably the worst five or six laps of my career! I’m very proud of my whole team. Last week, we didn’t necessarily expect to win because it was on a superspeedway. Here, we had this race clearly marked before the start of the season. I’m ready to keep adding wins this year.”

Kyle Busch appeared to be headed for victory with a lead of more than two seconds over Bell when Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing) collided late in the race. The two-time Cup Series champion managed to hold on to the lead at the restart, but with his tires worn more than those of his pursuers, he had to settle for fifth at the finish.

Connor Zilisch (Trackhouse Racing), who was making his Cup Series debut at 18, had a very eventful race. Winner the day before in the Xfinity Series (second division), he was involved in an incident right at the start, sending him back to the pits. While he had managed to get back into the pack, a spin by his teammate Daniel Suárez put an end to his race. The two drivers collided, with Zilisch finishing his race in the tec-pro at the side of the track. However, the young American made a strong impression throughout the weekend, and it's only a matter of time...
