Ekström makes a one shot in Nascar

The two-time DTM Champion will start the Nascar Sprint Cup Series race in Sonoma at the end of June. To compensate for the absence of Brian Vickers for medical reasons, Red Bull is ensuring great exposure.

Mattias Ekström, quelques jours après ses essais sur le Virginia International Raceway, est donc officialisé au volant de la Toyota n°83 aux couleurs de Red Bull for the Sonoma race. The double champion of DTM will replace Casey Mears, who himself is currently replacing Brian Vickers, the latter suffering from the presence of blood clots in his lungs and left leg.

For Red Bull, this “one shot” during the Sonoma race (June 26) is an opportunity to test a driver from a completely different championship, while also creating a nice publicity stunt. For Mattias Ekström, it is an opportunity to enrich his experience, after ten years in the DTM.
