And six for Jimmie Johnson!

Jimmie Johnson did not tremble. After a disappointing 25th place at the Sylvania 300, the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet wanted to prove that he deserved his status as reigning Champion. Starting in pole position at the AAA 400, the Hendrick driver led a quiet race until victory, which now puts him in an interesting position for the final sprint of the Chase, finding himself second, 35 points behind leader Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing). He is ahead of Jeff Burton (Richard Childress Racing), Joe Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing), Kurt Busch (Penske Racing) and Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) who complete the top five.

« It's a big weight off my shoulders to have been able to come here and win a race in the Chase, after last weekend's bad race. », Commented the winner of the Dover oval. “ It was a great day for us, because this result showed us that we were capable of winning races and being in the fight for the Chase. We had a difficult summer. We had bad races and bad results. We had some good races and some bad results. So it's good to do things correctly from the beginning to the end of the weekend. »

The leader of the Nascar Sprint Cup, Denny Hamlin, obtained a satisfactory result, crossing the finish line in ninth place on an oval that he does not particularly like. He thus retains the lead in the Championship, before the next race on October 3 which will take place at the Kansas Speedway. There are now only eight races remaining before the end of the season and the top eight drivers are 83 points apart.
