Greg Biffle wins Pocono race

The race was contested on the tri-oval in Pocono, Pennsylvania. The atypical nature of the triangle layout thus offers three important turns where the speeds are very high. Tony Stewart had the privilege of starting on pole at the start, given 40 minutes late, after rain appeared on the circuit.

Once the cars have started, the gaps widen quickly and it is a smooth race which takes place on the Pennsylvania triangle. A few yellow flags (for debris on the track) revived the competition, where in particular the No. 48 Chevy Impala of Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) and the No. 42 of Juan Pablo Montoya (Earnhardt Ganassi Racing) were at the front from the scene.

You have to wait until the 165th lap for things to come alive. While the No. 2 Dodge Charger of Kurt Busch (Penske Racing) is battling with the No. 33 Chevy of Clint Bowyer (Richard Childress Racing), Jimmie Johnson attempts a bump-draft on Kurt Busch. But he sends the latter into the wall, the impact of which sends his Chevy from side to side of the track. Behind, Elliott Sadler (Richard Petty Motorsports) tried to avoid the accident and hit the safety rail head-on, leaving his engine on the tarmac of the oval. If the accident is impressive, the pilots involved escaped without damage.

The accident causes a second red flag, which drags on following the return of the rain. The restart is given for the last 25 laps. Juan-Pablo Montoya, who had lost his chances of victory last weekend following a bad strategy from his crew chief Brian Pattie, once again suffered a bad choice by changing his four tires at the last refueling station, while the rest of the peloton only takes two new tires.

It's Greg Biffle who stands out well from the peloton and quickly becomes untouchable for his pursuers who are Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing), Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing), Championship leader Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing) and Clint Bowyer, who cross the finish line in that order. The man at the head of the Championship performed well, consolidating his lead in the standings. Clint Bowyer is giving himself the means to be in the Chase for the end of the season.

Note that the second red flag displayed after the accident of Elliott Sadler and Kurt Busch almost ended this race. After most of the cars had refueled, the leading driver not to stop was Sam Hornish Jr. in his No. 77 Penske Racing Dodge Charger, who would have made a perfect hold if the race had not stopped. ?had not restarted.
