IndyCar/Nascar – Major work in Texas

Major work will begin this Monday in Texas on the 1,455 mile oval, which notably hosts the rounds IndyCar et Nascar. The route will undergo resurfacing, will be provided with an efficient drainage system and will have its turns 1 and 2 modified.

Until now symmetrical with an inclination of 24° on its four turns, the Texan track will now have an inclination of 20° on its first two turns. The work will also widen the circuit in this area, from 60 to 80 feet (18 to 24 m).

The drainage system must make it possible to respond to weather hazards which notably forced the IndyCar organizers to postpone the race from June 11 to August 27 after 72 laps competed out of 248 on the menu at the first attempt. Last year's Nascar Sprint Cup Series races were also disrupted by rain.

The work must be completed by March 1, with the Nascar round scheduled for the weekend of April 7-9. As a result, GoodYear, manufacturer of the series, has announced that it will have to offer new tires for this event.
