Logano, the reigning champion of the NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano, who was expected to battle with teammate Ryan Blaney in the final two laps, won in his Team Penske Ford in an overtime finish following one of several crashes on a busy day in Texas. He edged out Ross Chastain's Chevrolet (Trackhouse Racing), who started 31st. Logano thought he would be battling teammate Ryan Blaney in the final two laps, but the 2023 Cup Series champion was unable to prevent Chastain's comeback.

This eleventh round of the season could have been the crowning achievement for Spire Motorsports. Carson Hocevar's Chevrolet started from pole position, while Michael McDowell's was leading with ten laps to go. Unfortunately, both drivers were involved in incidents, with Hocevar finishing 24th (and second to last, given the carnage), and McDowell retiring moments after being passed by Logano and Blaney to take the lead, and crashing into the wall. That said, this kind of performance is a pleasure to see for one of the smaller teams on the grid, which is growing year after year and is now establishing itself as a credible contender.

“This sport changes so quickly.”, for his part declared the winner of the day, Joey Logano. “It’s crazy to see how you can ride that roller coaster and still stay involved with the team. I knew my car was fast, we just missed out in qualifying. I had to work my way back up, taking opportunities where they presented themselves, one or two positions at a time.”

NASCAR now heads to Kansas Speedway for the twelfth round of the season on May 11.
