Joey Logano wins on gravel in Bristol

We were expecting trouble, we were not disappointed. Postponed by one day, the dirt race in Bristol kept all its promises.

With modified segments before the race and different regulations, the seventh meeting of the season was lively.

Winner of the Trucks race earlier in the day, Martin Truex Jr. (Joe Gibbs Racing) quickly positioned himself as a serious contender by taking control of the race shortly before the 20th lap.

In full control and lucky while the accidents kept coming (Alfredo, LaJoie, Golobic and even Almirola quickly on the mat), the man from New Jersey consolidated his lead at the front, pushing even his closest pursuers back by more than a second. . But halfway through the second segment, Martin Truex Jr. lost ground and saw Daniel Suarez (Trackford Racing Team) overtake him to take the lead in the race.

The Mexican then seemed to be heading towards a segment victory but it was not without counting on Joey Logano (Team Penske) who went on the offensive to steal this second scratch before the last 50 loops.

The driver of the No. 22 Ford Mustang then showed his solidity by escaping the various clashes and especially resisting the frantic return of Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) in the final laps to cross the finish line first.

Joey Logano gets his first victory of the season, the 27th of his career. He is the 7th different winner in as many races this year. This is the fifth time in history that this phenomenon has occurred after 1991, 2000, 2003 and 2014.
