Johnson, Monster Driver

Jimmie Johnson wins his second victory of the year at Dover International Speedway, his fourth race of the season, and establishes himself as the number one candidate for his own succession to the Sprint Cup Series title. However, it is still veteran Mark Martin who leads the general classification, with eight races remaining, ahead of Jimmie Johnson and Juan Pablo Montoya. If the Colombian has still not won this season, his consistency allows him to stay in the top three and assert himself as one of the best drivers of the season.

After a period of domination by Kurt Busch (finally fifth), Jimmie Johnson was able to take back the reins of the race and lead the entire second half of the event. Mark Martin, who started fourteenth, managed to move up to second place, an excellent operation with a view to the title, since the veteran still occupies the lead in the general classification, eight races from the end of the season.

Juan Pablo Montoya, fourth at Dover, remains in contact with the best. The Colombian now occupies third place in the general classification and, even if he has not yet won, is a serious competitor for Martin and Johnson.
