Kevin Harvick logical winner in Michigan

The seventh victory of the 2018 season Kevin Harvick quickly took shape last night in Michigan. The pilot of the Ford Fusion n°4 from Stewart-Haas Racing dominated the first two segments of the event before concluding without any real opposition from the competition to claim another success this year, propelling him to the top of the charts ahead of Kyle Busch.

The Joe Gibbs Racing resident, second in segments 1 and 2, could do nothing to counter Harvick, finishing 3rd behind Brad Keselowski (Ford – Team Penske), and taking advantage of the slow puncture of Austin Dillon (Chevrolet – Richard Childress Racing) in the final moments of the race.

The top 5 is completed by Dillon and Ryan Blaney (Ford – Team Penske), Chase Elliott (Chevrolet – Hendrick Motorsports), winner last week at Watkins Glen (New York), remaining the only other Chevrolet representative in the top 10.

Martin Truex Jr (Toyota – Furniture Row Racing) was also among the favorites, but an incident with William Byron (Chevrolet – Hendrick Motorsports), then a fuel shortage at the end of segment 2, coupled with two penalties (one for entering the pits while the pitlane was closed, the other for a wandering wheel during his stop), rejected the reigning champion beyond the top 10 under the checkered flag.
