On August 21, Kimi Räikkönen will be the main attraction of the round of Nascar Cup Series at Watkins Glen. In addition to the fight for qualifying places for the playoffs, the 25th race of the season will be marked by Iceman's big debut in the premier category.
At Watkins Glen, Kimi Räikkönen will drive the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro of Trackhouse Racing, the team owned by world-renowned artist Pitbull, as part of Project91, a project aimed at increasing the visibility of Nascar internationally by entrusting the No. 91 Camaro to foreign drivers.
In recent days, the 2007 F1 world champion was able to try his hand at the wheel of a Cup Series, having competed in the round on the Charlotte oval in the Nationwide Series (the 2nd division now called the Xfinity Series) as well as 'in the Truck Series in 2011 when he moved away from the Formula 1. On the Vir circuit, Kimi Räikkönen was able to complete the laps but also practice pit stops.

« I wouldn't know what to compare it to, he replied when asked about his first sensations. But it was nice to be able to get some laps in even if it's not the exact car I'm going to race with. However, everything went well so it's only a profit.
Luckily, I had some experience with a Cup Series car. It's from 2011. It's pretty much what I expected. I had been able to do a little simulator before so I already had an idea of what awaited me."

The Finn now says he is ready for his first round in the Cup Series on the road at Watkins Glen in a little over a week. “ I am better prepared to go to Watkins Glen. I was able to do around fifty laps in addition to my simulator sessions. Without this, the free practice session and qualifying would have been much more difficult for me."
Some thoughts from Kimi after yesterday's test.
