Joe Gibbs Racing signs Truex Jr

La Nascar Cup Series will retain its 2017 champion next year. Martin Truex Jr will join the top team of Toyota, Joe Gibbs Racing, taking the place of Daniel Suarez. The current resident of Furniture Row Racing saw his future uncertain following the withdrawal of the FRR at the end of the 2018 season. He will make the trip with his team leader Cole Pearn.

“I am very happy to make this transfer and be able to continue working with Cole. This is something very important to me, commented the driver of the No. 78 Toyota who has won 17 races with Furniture Row Racing since joining in 2014. The working comfort is very pleasant within Joe Gibbs Racing and I wanted to stay in the Toyota family. We still have big goals to accomplish at the end of the season, but it's nice to know what I'll be doing in 2019."

“It’s always exciting when we welcome two people of this caliber, confirmed Joe Gibbs, the owner of the team of the same name. They clearly developed a chemistry that led them to success and the title. We have gotten to know them well in recent years through the alliance formed within the Toyota family. They made us stronger as a team. »

The boss of the JGR also had a word for Daniel Suarez who missed the playoffs and is in 20th place in the Drivers ranking.

“We really appreciated what Daniel has done for Joe Gibbs Racing over the last few years. He made the most of every opportunity, winning the Xfinity Series (in 2016) before moving up to Cup with us. We look forward to knowing his plans for the future and knowing that he will have a bright future in our discipline”, added Joe Gibbs.
