“We have been waiting for this for a long time, said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR executive vice presidentIt's been since 2019 since we've had the final championship race at Homestead. We've moved it to Phoenix the last few years, which has been great for us. It's an amazing market. We've seen some great racing there and crowned some of our greatest champions, but we're excited to be back at Homestead Miami Speedway. I can tell you that the few people I've spoken to so far in the industry, through our partners, are thrilled. And for our fans, it's also the most requested championship venue. So we're thrilled to finally be able to announce the news."
However, Homestead Miami Speedway will not be the venue for the final round in future seasons. Indeed, NASCAR will introduce a rotation system between different circuits to host this "NASCAR Championship Weekend" in the coming years. Thus, Phoenix could once again host the final round of the championship in the near future: the Arizona oval will remain in the rotation of tracks considered for these future decisive rounds.
