Nascar – Alon Day hoped for better in Sonoma

Alon Day last weekend became the first Israeli to compete in a Nascar Cup Series en participant à la Toyota/Save Mart 350 sur le Sonoma Raceway (Californie). C’est également le premier pilote issu de la Nascar Whelen Euro Series à avoir été aligné au départ d’une course de la plus grande catégorie de la discipline.

The usual resident of Caal Racing, who occupies 2nd place in the NWES behind Borja Garcia, was entered in the No. 23 BK Racing Toyota Camry and finished in 32nd place after seeing his race disrupted by contact in the last road circuit bend.

“It's definitely not the result I was hoping for, but it's racing! It was a great experience, both in and out of the car., commented Alon Day after the event. Our start to the race was quite successful, but this crash really weakened the car and destroyed our hopes of doing well. The team did a great job allowing us to finish the event and gain valuable experience to come back stronger next time…”

Now, Alon Day is focusing again on his program in the Nascar Whelen Euro Series which will eventually allow him to return to compete in events in the USA. The Israeli will take the wheel again on the weekend of July 15 and 16 at the Venray oval (Netherlands).

“For now, I will focus on the main objective of this season: winning the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series title. The next race is on the Venray oval in Holland and I am ready to fight for victory! »
