Nascar – Austin Dillon signs his first victory in Charlotte

Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing) scored his first victory in Nascar Cup Series by winning the Coca-Cola 600 contested during the night at Charlotte Motor Speedway (North Carolina) and interrupted for more than an hour and a half by rain.

The grandson of Richard Childress chose to stay on the track, unlike the best contenders for victory who refueled with 32 laps to go. Austin Dillon took the race lead just three laps from the checkered flag when Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) ran out of gas and gave the No. 3 its first victory since Dale Earnhardt's victory at Talladega (Alabama) in 2000 by beating Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing), the winners of the first two segments.

Toyota a placé quatre Camry dans le top cinq avec les voitures Joe Gibbs Racing de Matt Kenseth et Denny Hamlin. Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing) took 6th place ahead of Erik Jones (Furniture Row Motorsports) and Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing). Jimmie Johnson finished 17th.
