Nascar – Austin Dillon titled in Nationwide

Austin Dillon arrived at Miami-Homestead with an eight-point lead over Sam Hornish Jr. The Ford Ecoboost 300 will have provided a nail-biting thriller for the title, with the two contenders fighting for each position in the hope of making the difference. After a difficult start to the race, the 2011 Truck Series champion managed to improve his performance to come back on the double champion ofIndyCar. The Penske Racing resident failed to do better than eighth after being cut off in his momentum by a 12-lap race interruption.

By finishing in 12th position after a saving restart, Austin Dillon became the first champion of the Nascar not to have won once this season. It was the consistency of the driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet that paid off with seven poles, 13 top fives and 22 top ten finishes in 33 events, Kyle Busch having more than monopolized Victory Lane with 12 successes in 26 starts. The driver of Richard Childress Racing, a team which also had his father Mike Dillon ride in 1995, had already distinguished himself last year by finishing in third position in the Championship.

Brad Keselowski eases Roger Penske's pain by winning the final event of the season ahead of Kyle Larson (Turner Scott Motorsports) who finishes best rookie of the season and who will replace Juan-Pablo Montoya next year within Ganassi Racing. However, his Chevrolet was checked too low at post-race inspection and he could face a points penalty. By finishing sixth behind Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Trevor Bayne (Roush Fenway Racing), Joey Logano offers the Owners' title to the No. 22 team also driven this year by Brad Keselowski, AJ Allmendinger and Ryan Blaney. Ford wins its fourth Manufacturers' title after those won in 1995, 2002 and 2011.
