The Clash's non-championship race at Daytona allowed Brad keselowski to ideally launch his 2018 season. The driver of the No. 2 Ford of Team Penske took control of the event contested over 75 laps in the 39th loop to maintain his position until the checkered flag while a collective crash happened in the last lap.
Kyle Larson (Chevrolet – Chip Ganassi Racing), voulant pousser Jimmie Johnson (Chevrolet – Hendrick Motorsports) en utilisant le phénomène d’aspiration, a expédié le septuple champion dans le mur, avec comme victimes collatérales, le champion en titre Martin Truex Jr (Toyota – Furniture Row Racing), Kyle Busch (Toyota – Joe Gibbs Racing), Chase Elliott (Chevrolet – Hendrick Motorsports) et Kasey Kahne (Chevrolet – Leavine Family).
In the lead, Keselowski, despite debris obstructing the air intake of his Ford Fusion and a very limited water temperature, won ahead of his teammate Joey Logano for a Penske double. Keselowski also succeeds Logano on the Clash list.
Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Ryan Blaney (Team Penske) give Ford a quadruple in front of the first Chevrolet of Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing) and the Toyota – Joe Gibbs Racing of Denny Hamlin.
The Daytona SpeedWeeks will continue with the Can-Am Duels this Thursday, which will determine the rest of the starting grid for the Daytona 500, after pole position won yesterday by Alex Bowman (Chevrolet – Hendrick Motorsports).
