Nascar – Carl Edwards inherits pole at Talladega

The rain came to disrupt the day of the Nascar at Talladega, forcing officials to cancel Sprint Cup qualifying for Aaron's 499. The starting grid was therefore established based on the times achieved in the first free practice session and it is Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) which is doing well with time. “It was quite exciting for all the teams because we were studying the weather and we were worried about not being able to put a single car on track », Comments the pole sitter of the race. “We had achieved the best time with one minute to go. This was our mission for Friday and I am proud to have achieved it. »

The driver of the No. 99 Ford will start alongside Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing). Marcos Ambrose (Richard Petty Motorsports), Joey Logano (Penske Racing) and Ryan Newman (Stewart-Haas Racing) complete the top five ahead of Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing). His teammate Denny Hamlin will start from 7th row for his return to competition after his accident last March at Fontana which took him away from the circuits. Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) will start eighth ahead of Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports). Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing) will start from 11th position.
