Nascar – Clint Bowyer resists in Sonoma

Smoke was able to take the advantage but did not have time to catch up with the leader and was content with second place. Michael Waltrip Racing achieved a good result with fourth place for Brian Vickers ahead of Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports).

Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports) completed the top six after suffering a scare when he ran out of fuel just before entering the pits. Greg Biffle took seventh place (Roush Fenway Racing) ahead of Marcos Ambrose (Richard Petty Motorsports) while AJ Allmendinger (Penske Racing) took care of placing the first Dodge in ninth position ahead of Joey Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing). Juan-Pablo Montoya could hope for a good result on this circuit but the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing driver was still sorely lacking in speed and was content with an anonymous 34th place.
