Nascar – Dale Earnhardt Jr testing in Phoenix

Last December, Dale Earnhardt Jr. carried out a private taxi to meet the conditions of his return to action in Nascar, after missing most of the 2016 season after experiencing concussion-related symptoms.

This conclusive test confirmed the almost end of the convalescence of the favorite driver of American fans, and launched a new stage in the return process of the resident of the No. 88 Chevrolet of Hendrick Motorsports.

Yesterday, the native of Kannapolis once again slipped into the seat of his mount for a testing session scheduled on the Phoenix oval in Arizona.

Despite a small fire on his brakes, the son of legend Dale Earnhardt was able to perform normally on the track, he who admits not really knowing what to expect before the Daytona 500, on February 26 in Florida.

“Sometimes you see guys in any sport who are out for a while and have to adjust to what's changed since they took a step back, says Dale Jr. And then there are people who come back like they never missed a day. Then I do not know.

I just hope I don't get too rusty. I'm really looking forward to going out there and performing well, running well and checking that box, to show that we're where we need to be. »

Dale Earnhardt Jr was notably replaced by Jeff Gordon in 2016, the latter having distinguished himself last weekend by winning the 24 Hours of Daytona with Wayne Taylor Racing.
