Nascar – Second consecutive pole at the Daytona 500 for Chase Elliott

Already the author of pole position last year, Chase elliott renewed its performance this Sunday at the end of the qualifying session. With a reference lap completed in 46″663 at an average of 192,872 mph (or 310,397 km/h), the driver of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet was just two thousandths ahead of his teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The latter signals his return to competition in the most beautiful way, after being sidelined from the circuits during the second part of the 2016 season for symptoms linked to a concussion.

If we were waiting for the Ford Fusions, especially from Team Penske, after Joey Logano's success on The Clash event earlier in the day, Brad Keselowski could not do better than a third time, 44 thousandths behind Elliott. Clint Bowyer (Stewart)Haas Racing – Ford) concludes with the fourth time ahead of the first Toyota by Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row).

Rick Hendrick's team will therefore monopolize the first row of the starting grid, the only one to be determined by this Sunday session. The other positions will be defined during the Can-Am duels played this Thursday in Florida.
