Nascar – Greg Biffle maintains control in Michigan

Greg Biffle returned to success by winning the Quicken Loans 400 held at Michigan International Speedway. After winning last year on this oval, the driver of the No. 16 Fusion scored his first victory of the season, the 13th for Roush Fenway Racing, and the 1000th for Ford in the discipline. The resident of Jack Roush's team was threatened by Jimmie Johnson before the five-time champion hit the wall two laps from the finish following a puncture. The Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets were particularly competitive but they all encountered problems. Jeff Gordon clashed with Bobby Labonte (Phoenix Racing) at the start of the race, Dale Earnhardt Jr broke his engine and Kasey Kahne hit the wall while leading.

Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing) finished second ahead of Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing). By finishing in fourth place, Kyle Busch earned the 100th top five of his career. Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing) took fifth position, a result which allowed him to climb into the top ten in the Drivers' standings. Rounding out the top ten were Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing), Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing), pole sitter Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing), Joey Logano (Penske Racing) and Jeff Burton (Richard Childress Racing). Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing) was fighting for a top five finish before running out of fuel in the final meters. The reigning champion must be content with 12th place behind Austin Dillon (Circle Sport).

Despite his 28th place finish, Jimmie Johnson maintains a 20-point lead over Carl Edwards. Greg Biffle moved up to eighth place with his victory and is now ahead of Brad Keselowski. On the other hand, Kasey Kahne's crash dropped the driver of the No. 5 Chevy to 12th place.
