Nascar – Hamlin and Joe Gibbs on pole at Fontana

Denny Hamlin a remporté pour la troisième fois la pole sur l’ovale de Fontana en réalisant un chrono de 38 »410 et place ainsi sa Toyota n°11 en première place. Le pilote de la Joe Gibbs Racing a devancé Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing) et le champion en titre Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing), mais les deux pilotes ont rencontré des ennuis mécaniques sur leurs Ford et devront partir du fond de grille. Kyle Busch et Matt Kenseth, les coéquipiers du poleman, ont ainsi hérité des positions et offrent des qualifications parfaites à leur équipe.

Joey Logano (Penske Racing) will start from fourth row ahead of Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing), Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing), Mark Martin (Michael Waltrip Racing), Kurt Busch (Furniture Row Racing) and Casey Mears (Germain). Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports), the direct rival of leader Brad Keselowski, inherited 13th place and is the first driver for his team, his teammate Jimmie Johnson only taking 16th place on the grid. Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports), winner last weekend at Bristol, will start from 14th position. Danica Patrick (Stewart-Haas Racing) once again had a difficult qualifying session as she only set the 40th fastest time of the session.
