After 797 career starts in the premier series of the discipline since 1992, Jeff Gordon became a young retiree of the NASCAR on the evening of the 2015 season finale at Miami-Homestead (Florida). The four-time Sprint Cup Series champion will no longer drive his famous Chevrolet badged with the No. 2016 in 24, a number that has become as famous as the rainbow livery regularly worn by the Vallejo, California native's car.
A 93-time winner, Jeff Gordon has left his mark on the history of the championship, as has that of Hendrick Motorsports, his long-time team since its debut in the major NASCAR category in 1992 in Atlanta.
“He brought a more professional spirit to the discipline, always being available to journalists, whether he lost or won, underlines Pat Angeli, one of the NASCAR commentators on AB Engines. He knew how to remain calm despite the numerous requests and had a clean driving style during his career, which was able to inspire drivers like Jimmie Johnson (six times champion between 2006 and 2013). »
