Nascar – Joey Logano returns to service in Michigan

As expected, things go fast at Michigan International Speedway. Very quickly, even. By completing a lap in 35??303 at an average speed of 203.695 Mph (327.82 km/h), Joey Logano achieved a double achievement: he, on the one hand, took the first pole position of his season, the first since he joined Team Penske and the first of his career behind the wheel of a Ford. He also set the best time on the track, previously held by Australian Marcos Ambrose, in June 2012. With this new performance, it is the 13th time this year that a record has fallen. “When you get to Michigan, there's definitely an added incentive to win and take poles, Logano explained afterwards. First, Ford comes from here and Penske also has its headquarters there. Every time we come here and we can get a pole for Roger (Penske), it is enormous ! ".

Behind the driver of the No. 22 Ford Fusion, we find Kurt Busch, who comes within a hair's breadth, 0??044, of first place and Jimmie Johnson, the five-time championship winner and current leader of the Drivers' standings. Mark Martin takes fourth place, just ahead of Juan-Pablo Montoya, who learned this week that?he will no longer be part of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing next year.

Replacement for Tony Stewart, Austin Dillon had to settle for 27th position at the wheel of the No. 14 Stewart Chevrolet SS.Haas Racing.
