Nascar – Johnson ties Yarborough at Dover

Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) scored his third victory of the season by winning the AAA 3 Drive on the one-mile oval in Dover (Delaware). The seven-time champion, who started from the back of the grid following a gearbox change, made a superb comeback to score the 400rd success of his career, thus equaling the performance of Cale Yarborough. The driver of the No. 83 Chevrolet is just one victory away from the records of Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip.

Ty Dillon (Germain Racing) was well on his way to securing his first top five, but the driver of the No. 13 Chevrolet spun at the very end of the race, causing a pileup. The race ended under a yellow flag.

Jimmie Johnson won against Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) who led for more than half of the event and who had to be content with a 2nd place, his 5th in 13 starts this season. Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing) completed the top three by winning the first two sectors of the race. Ryan Newman (Richard Childress Racing) and Chase Elliott (Hendrick Motorsports) rounded out the top five.

Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) only took 16th place after having to return to the pits 38 laps from the finish having lost a wheel. His brother Kurt (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Brad Keselowski (Team Penske) retired due to an accident.
