Nascar – Johnson on pole at Pocono thanks to rain

The Pocono Triangle has not seen the cars of the Nascar Sprint Cup turn, rain persisting on the oval. The organizers were forced to cancel qualifying and rely on the Owners classification to form the starting grid. Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) will start from first place ahead of Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing). “It's a big benefit to start on pole here, whether in terms of position on the track or in the pits. It's a good thing to experience such a season as we have been experiencing so far. This is one of the advantages we enjoy (as a leader) when the rain is there. »

Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing) will start from third position ahead of Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing), Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing), Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports), Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports), Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) ), Paul Menard (Richard Childress Racing) and Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing) who received another penalty at the end of the Dover race. Starting positions are important at Pocono as 20 drivers have won in the last 30 races starting from the top six places (eight started on pole). With only 43 cars entered, no drivers were eliminated.

The teams are afraid of moving into the unknown regarding the settings of the cars, the weather being also uncertain for today.
