NASCAR – Juan-Pablo Montoya returns – for two races

The Colombian had revealed himself (after the F3000) at the end of the 90s by winning the CART title in 1999 then the Indy 500 in 2000. After a stint in F1 then in NASCAR, Montoya had returned to car in the United States for the 2014 seasonIndyCar within Team Penske. The Captain's team, also present in the Sprint Cup with the Ford Fusions of Brad Keselowski (2012 champion) and Joey Logano, the latest winner in NASCAR on the Richmond oval, will therefore enter a third car for the former F1 resident for two races. Will be on the program for the ex-pilot Williams et McLaren, Michigan on June 15, and above all, the Brickyard 400 on the Indianapolis oval on July 27.

“It’s going to be fun to get back behind the wheel of a Cup car, explains the Colombian. It's hard to believe, but Roger (Penske) has never won the Brickyard 400. I think Brad and Joey and I have a real opportunity to give the team a victory. You will also have to be good at Michigan. »

Montoya has two NASCAR victories, all on road courses, at Sonoma in 2007 and Watkins Glen in 2010, but came very close to victory at Indianapolis in 2009. After leading much of the race, whoever drove then for Ganassi, had been penalized for speeding in the pitlane. In 2010, he also saw victory slip through his fingers after a crash 16 laps from the finish.
