Nascar / Kansas: AJ Allmendinger on pole

After taking second place at Martinsville, AJ Allmendinger once again placed himself at the forefront by taking pole on the Kansas City oval. The Penske Racing driver will look to secure his first Sprint Cup victory by starting ahead of Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing) and Joey Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing). Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) continues to have a good start to the season and takes fourth place ahead of Mark Martin (Michael Waltrip Racing). Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing), last pole sitter in Texas, will start from sixth position ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports), Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing), Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) and Sam Hornish Jr.

Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing) follows in 11th position with his No. 2 Dodge. Five-time champion of the discipline Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) will start from 15th place while Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing), last winner in Texas and leader of the Championship, sets the 17th time of the session. Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) will need to improve on his 21st position to improve his inconsistent start to the season. Same disappointment for the reigning champion Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing) only 23rd. Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) is in 25th position while Juan-Pablo Montoya (Earhardt Ganassi Racing) continues his slow descent from 39th place.
