Nascar – Kenseth resists Kahne in Las Vegas

The starting grid for the Kobalts Tool 400 did not allow any contenders for victory to be identified, as qualifying could not be contested due to rain forcing the organizers to cancel the session. At the end of a smooth race interrupted by only five yellow flags (mainly at the end of the race), Matt Kenseth won his first victory under the colors of Joe Gibbs Racing, the 25th of his career, after resisting the attacks of Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) chased him in the final laps.

The pilot of the Toyota n°20 s’était envolé en tête au dernier restart, laissant le poleman Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing) se battre face à Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs). Mais la Chevrolet n°5 de Kasey Kahne était la plus rapide en piste cet après-midi et revenait rapidement dans les roues du leader. Malgré la présence de retardataires, le pilote Hendrick n’a pu prendre l’avantage et s’incline finalement en deuxième position. Le champion en titre assure la troisième place après avoir remporté son duel face à la Camry n°18. Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing), vainqueur le week-end dernier à Phoenix, complète le top cinq après avoir dépassé Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) dans les derniers tours. Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports) prend la septième place devant Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing), Kevin Harvick et Paul Menard (Richard Childress Racing). Danica Patrick (Stewart-Haas Racing) only finished 33rd.
