Nascar – Kenseth: “End on a good note”

Matt Kenseth did not give up the battle in the Chase even though Jimmie Johnson took a clear advantage in Phoenix. By winning the first pole of his career at Miami-Homestead, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver seeks to maintain his title hopes even if he will not be able to avoid a sixth coronation for Johnson if the latter finishes in the first 23 places ( not counting bonus points). “It's always a good thing to have the first stand and to be able to quickly take points. All we can do is control the No. 20 and my team succeeded admirably. My car was better than me all day and I'm happy with its performance. »

Despite his good performances, Matt Kenseth is aware that the feat will be difficult to achieve following his disappointment in Phoenix where he lost big in the Championship. “We can't control what they do (a la Hendrick) and they won't finish in 23rd or 24th place without having problems. We just have to concentrate fully on the No. 20 and do our best to finish at the front and hope to have a chance to win. We must also not forget #29 (by Kevin Harvick, who can also play for the title). I just hope to fight for the win and end my season on a good note. »
