Nascar – Keselowski and Penske Racing heavily penalized

The sentence finally fell for Penske Racing. After having been inspected before the start of the last race to date, during the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, the cars of Roger Penske and Walt Czarnecki were deemed non-compliant: their suspensions having been installed without being previously approved by the organizers.

As a result, Brad Keselowski, the reigning Sprint Cup Series champion, sees himself deducted 25 points in the Drivers' standings. A penalty which risks compromising his chances of succeeding himself. Joey Logano and the entire team also lost 25 points. Several members of Penske Racing were also heavily reprimanded. Paul Wolfe and Todd Gordon, respectively team leaders of Keselowski and Logano, will have to pay a fine of $100. They are also suspended for the next six events and placed on probation until December 000, 31. Jerry Kelley, Raymond Fox, Brian Wilson, Samuel Stanley and Travis Geisler, who all officiate for the two drivers, are also excluded from the circuits for the next six appointments and placed on probation.

The #56 Michael Waltrip Racing car, driven by Martin Truex Jr., was also deemed non-compliant following the Texas meeting. The team and its driver each lost six points in the championship and Ched Johnston, the team leader, was fined $25.
