Nascar – Kyle Busch adds Texas to his list

Kyle Busch a réalisé un doublé ce week-end en remportant l’épreuve de Natiowide et de Sprint Cup où il s’élançait depuis la pole. Le pilote de la Joe Gibbs Racing s’est offert son premier succès dans la catégorie reine sur cet ovale et décroche également sa seconde victoire de la saison et la 26e de sa carrière. La Toyota n°18 a devancé sur la ligne d’arrivée la Camry de Martin Truex Jr qui a longtemps espéré décrocher la première place qui lui manque depuis six saisons. Le pilote de la n°56 a été le seul à se hisser régulièrement aux avant-postes (171 tours en tête pour Kyle Busch et 142 boucles pour Martin Truex Jr), mais sa Toyota n’a pas passé l’inspection d’après-course et le pensionnaire de la Michael Waltrip Racing est sous la menace d’une pénalité (ainsi que les deux Ford de la Penske Racing pilotées par Brad Keselowski et Joey Logano).

Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports) was also able to challenge for victory before retiring at the end of the race with a broken front suspension. Third place goes to Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing), while Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing) and Joey Logano (Penske Racing) complete the top five. Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) protects his championship lead by taking sixth place ahead of Aric Almirola (Richard Petty Motorsports) and Brian Vickers (Joe Gibbs Racing) who replaces Denny Hamlin in the No. 11 Toyota. Defending champion Brad Keselowski remains the five-time champion's most serious rival, taking eighth place. But the Penske driver sees the winner of the weekend fall back to nine points in the Drivers' standings.

The race will be broadcast from 19 p.m. (Paris time) on AB Matériaux.
