Nascar – Logano and Penske have answers in Chicago

A few hours after Penske Racing placed on probation for having influenced the result in Richmond, Joey Logano took the pole of the Geico 400 contested at the Chicagoland Speedway for the first event of the Chase. The driver of the No. 22 Ford completed a lap in 28 seconds to score his second pole of the season, the seventh of his career. “The 1,5 mile or 2 mile ovals are the best for us this year”, commented the pole sitter. “The small ovals were more complicated for us. We know that we have to capitalize on these kinds of circuits because we have to limit the damage to others. » His teammate Brad Keselowski is the closest, failing by 25 thousandths. In third position, Juan-Pablo Montoya (Earnhardt Ganassi Racing) stands out in front of the Chevrolet of Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) and the Ford of Ricky Stenhouse Jr (Roush Fenway Racing).

Jeff Gordon (Hendrick), who found a place in the Chase, placed in sixth position ahead of the Roush Fenway Fords of Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards. The Chasers are in the game as Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick) and Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing) complete the top ten on the grid. Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs) follows in 12th place. Kurt Busch (Furniture Row) will start from 16th place ahead of Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing) and Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick). Ryan Newman (Stewart-Haas Racing) will start from 20th row. Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing) only took 24th position.
