Nascar – Mark Martin wins his 56th pole in Phoenix

Mark Martin (Michael Waltrip Racing) claimed the 56th pole of his career in the discipline by setting the fastest time at Phoenix Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 with an average speed of 138,074mph. The veteran of the Nascar The 54-year-old was four hundredths ahead of the Chevrolet of Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports), while the last Daytona 500 winner Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick) took third place five hundredths behind.

Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports) complete the top five on the grid ahead of Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing), Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing). Ryan Newman (Stewart-Haas Racing) completes the top ten ahead of defending champion Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing).

After causing a sensation last week at Daytona by taking pole and eighth place in the race, Danica Patrick (Stewart-Haas Racing) seems to be in more difficulty this week, taking only 40th place on the grid. “I couldn't get the car to turn. I had been struggling since the trials. We made changes at the end and I was hoping to have the problem fixed for qualifying but we had that problem again. It's very disappointing, especially since I know how good it is to place yourself well on these "short tracks" in the first lap. We know we are better in the race, but we need to qualify better to have a good result. »
