Nascar – Martin Truex Jr winner in Kansas

After Las Vegas (Nevada) earlier in the season, Martin Truex Jr. pinned Kansas' round in Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series hier soir. Le pilote de la Toyota Camry n°78 du Furniture Row Racing a été le plus en vue hier avec 104 tours menés sur les 267 disputés.

The race intensified shortly before the 200 lap mark with a neutralization which saw Ryan Blaney take control of the event after passing through the pits.

If Truex Jr manages to get a better start, the race is neutralized again following a impressive accident involving Joey Logano (Team Penske), Danica Patrick (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Aric Almirola (Richard Petty Motorsports – Ford).

Following a mechanical problem with his No. 22 Ford, Joey Logano hit the back of Danica Patrick's Ford, sending both drivers into the wall. In the process, Almirola was unable to avoid the two cars in front of him and hit Logano at high speed, Danica Patrick's Ford already being the victim of a fire.

Rescue teams had to extract Almirola from his No. 43 Ford before the RPM driver was transferred to the University of Kansas Medical Center for observation, his condition being considered stable, according to the press release released by the Richard Petty team. Danica Patrick and Joey Logano came out of the circuit's medical center.

After more than 25′ of red flag, the race can resume but will be neutralized four more times, the last following contact between Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota), with the victim collateral and main Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet).

Truex Jr finally retained the advantage at the last restart two laps from the finish to win ahead of the Ford Fusions of Brad Keselowski (Team Penske), Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Ryan Blaney (Wood Brothers Racing).
