Nascar – Paul Menard will stay with Richard Childress

While Nascar Sprint Cup is still in Charlotte to compete in the Coca Cola 600, Richard Childress Racing has confirmed the contract extension of Paul Menard for several additional seasons. After making his debut with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated in 2005, the 32-year-old American competed in his first full season in 2008 before moving to Yates Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports. The latter then joined Richard Childress Racing in 2011 where he scored a top ten finish at the Daytona 500 before taking his first victory at the Brickyard 400 held on the Indianapolis oval.

“It’s great to welcome Paul Menard, the driver of the No. 27 Chevrolet”, commented Richard Childress, director of the eponymous team. “He has proven himself to be consistent, competitive and capable of winning at the Sprint Cup level. He achieved it with us at the Brickyard 400 with us at Indy. With “Slugger” Labbe (his crew chief) and the whole team, this allows us to build the foundations to achieve other successes, fight for the Chase and be contenders for a Championship. »

Paul Menard currently occupies 11th place in the Drivers' standings, two points behind his teammate Kevin Harvick in tenth position. His Chevrolet will start from 22nd place in the Coca Cola 600.
