Nascar – Roush Fenway Racing scales back in 2017

With the emergence of Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano within Team Penske, Roush Fenway no longer appears to be the main force in Ford's commitment to Nascar Sprint Cup Series. Jack Roush's team, although it remains victorious in the second division (last title in 2015 with Chris Buescher), has not won a Drivers' title in the premier series since 2004 with Kurt Busch.

After having entered three Ford Fusions for Trevor Bayne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Chris Buescher in 2016, the Concord structure in North Carolina will only field two cars next year for the first two cities, with the n°6 and n°17.

“We have been able to consolidate our plans for 2017 and we believe this will continue to take us in a direction that will deliver improved performance and results, explains Jack Roush.

We saw improvement in our cars and made substantial performance gains at times last season, and we will continue to build on this by maintaining a robust engineering group to take the next step. »

The “Charter” of the No. 16 car, which guarantees presence on the grid for the 36 races on the program, will be “rented” to JTG Daugherty Racing, with Chris Buescher at the wheel. The team of Tad and Jodi Geschickter will therefore enter two cars in 2017 with Buescher alongside AJ Allmendinger.
