Nascar – Ryan Newman wins pole at Loudon

Ryan Newman (Stewart-Haas Racing) highlighted himself on the New Hampshire oval by seizing the new track record with a time of 27, beating the old time established earlier in the season by Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing ). The future resident of Richard Childress Racing signed his second pole of the season, the 51st of his career, and can reasonably hope for a victory after having already won at Loudon by starting from first position twice (in 2002 and 2011). “We were on pace all day during qualifying and I'm confident it will pay off in the end.”, commented the pole sitter.

The driver of the No. 39 Chevrolet will start in front of other Chasers, Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) being the closest, failing 85 thousandths ahead of teammate Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch (Furniture Row Racing). Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing), whose future is uncertain following the loss of an important sponsor of his team, completes the top five ahead of Joey Logano (Penske Racing), Paul Menard, Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing), Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing), last winner in Chicago, and Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing).

The other Chasers are in the mix since Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsport) took 11th position ahead of Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing). Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing) will start from 16th place ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsport). Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) will only start from 26th position after having a slight contact with the wall in his first qualifying lap.
