NASCAR – Sonoma smiles on the Busch brothers

Feared by some, awaited by others, the first road test of the season in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is often the occasion for lively and highly contested races. But we will remember from this 2015 edition that Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing), returned a few weeks ago after his broken leg suffered during an off-track at Daytona in Florida at the opening of the season, achieved a valuable success in his quest to participate in the Chase.

Returning to the pits during the final interruption, the driver of the Toyota n°18 took in control of the race on lap 116 against leader Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) taking advantage of his fresher tires and held on to pocket his 30th career victory, the second on the Californian track. A success all the more memorable since, for the first time, Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas racing) allows the siblings to score a double in the Sprint Cup Series. Kyle Busch thus returns to 136 points from 30th place, necessary for his qualification for the Chase, with ten races to contest in the regular season.

Clint Bowyer (MWR), Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Joey Logano (Team Penske) complete the top 5.
