Nelson Piquet Jr goes into exile in Nascar

Caught at the heart of the 2008 Singapore affair which shook the team Renault F1 last season, Nelson Piquet Jr. saw the door to different F1 teams close in front of him.

“I have spent the last few months evaluating different options,” he says on his website. “I had to make a choice but it was a difficult decision. I always wanted to succeed in F1 but I learned that happiness was as important as ambition. »

“After eighteen months of F1, I decided to try another discipline and I chose the United States. There Nascar is a very competitive championship. No one has ever come from another category to win straight away,” he adds.

The Champion of F3 British and the vice GP2 Champion in 2006 still hopes to come back to ride in Europe: “I am certain to come and ride on the European circuits. I still have big ambitions, like winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans? "

But for now, it is on the other side of the Atlantic that Nelsihno will try to rebuild his image. He will announce his program “soon”.

L?ancien pilote Renault F1 a testé une Toyota Tundra engagée en Truck Series (3e division) en octobre dernier.
