A week after Michael McDowell at the Daytona 500, Christopher Bell also opened his Cup Series victory counter. After the numerous incidents during the races, the triumph seemed almost promised to Joey Logano (Team Penske) but it was not without counting on the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.
Twelfth on the grid, Christopher Bell had an excellent race on the Daytona road circuit this Sunday. The Norman (Oklahoma) native defied the odds and above all escaped incidents to achieve his first career victory.
After passing Kurt Busch (Chip Ganassi Racing) for second place with less than five laps remaining, Christopher Bell attacked leader Joey Logano and took control just before the final lap. He then went solo to his first victory.

Poleman and leader for a while, Chase Elliot (Hendrick Motorsports) lost everything. After bad stops and a few brawls in the middle of the pack, the reigning champion saw his hopes of victory go up in smoke with five laps remaining. While trying to overtake Brad Keselowski (Team Penske), Bill's son was hit by Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) and crossed the finish line in 21st position.
Falling back beyond fifth position just before the final yellow flag, Denny Hamlin finally did well with a good third place acquired in the final laps.
See you on February 28 at 21:30 p.m. for the third round of the season in Miami (Florida).
