Tony Stewart closes in on the leader

Victory was not easy for Tony Stewart, who was often caught by his opponents, who were faster than him on the track. But his team, and more particularly its crew chief Darian Grubb, opted for a winning strategy by delaying the refueling of the No. 14 Chevrolet Impala.

Tony Stewart was able to take advantage of a clean air with 17 laps to go allowing him to protect his position from the attacks of Carl Edwards who was chasing him. “ This is by far the best car I've ever had here “, he wanted to clarify. “ It was such a fun race because we could be far or ahead depending on the lap. I had announced to my crew chief that during testing, I was at times faster than I have ever been here. In the race, if we were in a good position and had fairly clean air, we were able to widen the gap. ».

All four manufacturers finished in the top six, which was completed by Jeff Burton (Richard Childress Racing), who fell just short of the podium. He is followed by Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Kurt Busch (Penske Racing), who secures a place in the Chase, gaining two places in the Championship, to find himself eighth.

Tony Stewart also gains two positions to find himself fourth in the Championship. Nascar Sprint Cup, but they are not the only ones since Jimmie Johnson also gains two places to find himself seventh, 14 points behind Jeff Burton. The drivers will be able to decide again this weekend with the race in Richmond, Virginia.
