Although discreet during the first two thirds of the race, Martin Truex Jr. (Joe Gibbs Racing) was able to show mischief at the end of the race to claim his second victory of the campaign.
While success seemed promised to them, Ryan Blaney (Team Penske) and Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) were surprised by a fleeting Martin Truex Jr. at the end of the race.
This victory, the man of Toyota Camry No. 19 went to find it alone. Present in the leading pack but without really standing out, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver waited until the last moments of these 500 laps to launch a lethal attack.
Very fast during the last refueling, Truex Jr. left the pit lane in the lead in front of his teammate. Trailing at the time of the restart, the 2017 champion was patient and took back the lead with 14 laps to go.
A masterful pass by @MartinTruex_Jr gets him the top spot with 15 to go at @MartinsvilleSwy! pic.twitter.com/AHSlT2jCQQ

He then went solo to take part in Victory Lane for the second time this season, becoming the first driver to score two victories in 2021.
Next meeting Sunday April 18 in Richmond (21:00 p.m. French time).
