An aero package with reduced downforce on short ovals and road circuits in 2020

Put the pilot back at the heart of the debates. We could somewhat summarize the will of the officials of the Nascar regarding their choice to reduce the aerodynamic downforce on the cars for the rounds on short ovals and road circuits in 2020 in the Cup Series.

A throwback too, since this new aero package will strongly resemble that used in 2017 and 2018 in the American series. Concretely, these changes will impact the rear spoiler which will be reduced from 20 to 7 cm, when the advance of the front splitter will increase from 5 cm to a little more than half a centimeter.

The radiator will also be impacted with the removal of the vertical grille to reduce support on the front part. However, the dimensions of the radiator will not be changed.

These changes will be applied to the Bristol, Dover, Martinsville, New Hampshire, Phoenix and Richmond oval circuits. The three road routes of Sonoma, Watkins Glen and the “Roval” of Charlotte are also affected.
